Biography of Deepika Padukone

Early Life

Deepika Padukone was born on January 5, 1986 in Copenhagen, Denmark. She is the daughter of the famous Indian badminton player, Prakash Padukone. Her family moved to Bangalore, India when she was just one year old. Deepika grew up in Bangalore and completed her education there. She completed her pre-university education from Mount Carmel College and then pursued a degree in sociology from Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU).

Career Beginnings

Deepika started her career as a model and appeared in various advertisements. She was also a part of the Kingfisher calendar in the year 2005. Her first break in Bollywood came when she was offered the role of Rishi Kapoor’s daughter in the film “Aarakshan” in 2011. The film, however, did not do well at the box office.

Rise to Fame

It was in the year 2013 when Deepika made her breakthrough in the film industry. She played the lead role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s “Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela” opposite Ranveer Singh. The film was a massive hit and Deepika received a lot of appreciation for her performance. She received her first Filmfare award for Best Actress for this film.

Subsequently, Deepika starred in “Happy New Year” which was directed by Farah Khan. The film was a commercial success and Deepika received critical acclaim for her performance. In the same year, she starred in the film “Piku” which was a huge success. She played the lead role in the film alongside Amitabh Bachchan and Irrfan Khan.

International Debut

Deepika made her international debut in the year 2015 with the Hollywood film “xXx: Return of Xander Cage”. She played the role of Serena Unger in the film and received a lot of positive reviews for her performance.

Continued Success

In 2016, Deepika starred in the film “Bajirao Mastani” which was directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The film was a commercial success and Deepika received a lot of appreciation for her performance. She received her second Filmfare award for Best Actress for this film.

In the same year, Deepika starred in the film “Padmaavat” which was also directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The film was a massive success and Deepika received a lot of appreciation for her performance. She received her third Filmfare award for Best Actress for this film.

Personal Life

Deepika Padukone has been in a relationship with actor Ranveer Singh since 2013. The couple got married on November 14, 2018 in Lake Como, Italy.

Philanthropy

Deepika is also known for her philanthropic work. She is the founder of The Live Love Laugh Foundation which is a non-profit organization that works towards spreading awareness about mental health and offers support to those suffering from mental illness.
