Dodeca - Scratcha DVA, Inga Copeland, Logos, LTO @Junction Room

  • Junction Room 578 Kingsland Road London, England, E8 4AH United Kingdom (map)

Super excited to announce Dodeca, the first in a series of electronic music nights in Dalston.

The first line up is as follows:

Scratcha DVA
Inga Copeland
Logos (weightless set)
LTO (live)

Scratcha DVA / DVA Hi:Emotions

Throughout Scratcha DVA's career he’s been immune to easy genre definitions, as a producer who has cut a joyful path through dance music, joining the dots between trends and styles into his colourful productions.
After working in the grime world, including producing for Wiley and engineering for various MCs, he struggled to shake off his association with a genre he still liked but was no longer excited about. He rode the UK funky wave around 2010 with a crop of 12”s on Hyperdub, including a collaboration with Eglo singer Fatima, but again wasn’t comfortable staying in the same box for long. In 2012 he ended a six-year stretch as a breakfast show host on Rinse FM and released his debut album for Hyperdub, Pretty Ugly. The album featured a range of vocalists, which seemed to come as a surprise to some listeners, even though Smart had released the first grime album to feature only singers six years before.
He is now back with his second LP. NOTU_URONLINEU under new alias DVA [Hi:Emotions]. The Quietus describes it as ''a brilliant, confounding piece of work.'

Inga Copeland, as 'Lolina', and Scratcha's new CD

Inga, copeland, Lolina… is an Estonian-raied Russian musician. With Brexit looming on the horizon, and contaminating debates around immigration - Inga's debut album "Live in Paris" see's Copeland casting a critical gaze on the current political climate in her adopted home of London. Her non-compromsing performance and at times difficult to digest sound is perhaps a reflection of her own growing discomfort in a city that is becoming ever more challenging to live in.

Logos -

Logos is a pillar of London’s Boxed prism, as well as a celebrated solo producer/DJ, and is also known as 1/3 of the cyberpunk-inspired trio))) The Sprawl, alongside Shapednoise and Mumdance, with whom he runs the Different Circles label and club events.

Across releases for Keysound Recordings, Tectonic, Glacial Sound and his own label, Logos’ productions persistently recall the lush sci-fi darkness and space of late ’90s Metalheadz and Reinforced records, whist isolating and augmenting the mechanics of esque-y instrumental grime and early, ‘ardcore rave in a style he aptly terms Weightless.

In 2016 we hold hopes for a follow-up to the below-kelvin cinematic sound designs of his modern classic Cold Mission (2013) album and the rugged rollers of last year’s Proto collab with Mumdance. Whilst we can confirm or deny nothing at this stage, it’s safe to say that new material is necessary, if not in-progress already for Different Circles, following more recent remixes of M.E.S.H and Mr. Mitch.

LTO of Old Apparatus

A solo electronic producer based in Bristol, LTO first garnered attention and praise in 2011 as part of the Old Apparatus collective with their abstract experimental bass-driven music, submerged in swirls and fragments of otherworldly static and interference.

Later working on solo music as well as with the collective, LTO’s first release under his own name was the characteristically mysterious No Pasa Nada EP in 2015 - a heady cloud of greyscale sound design, ghostly timbres and deep sonics.

LTO returns with his debut solo LP ‘The Number From Which All Things Come’. Agrippa attributed the number ten to a sense of totality - the achievement - the return to the unit after the development of the cycle of the first nine numbers. It’s a complete number marking the full course of life.

This ‘life’ is what LTO has been growing for the past 10 years - a record including many re-visioned workings of early ideas along with off-shoots of the mysterious Old Apparatus collective. For many, he keeps remnants of that same mystery and wonder but here he contradicts and flips this facade to give a sentiment of warmth and openness.

Tickets are £10 advance from resident advisor. MOTD. Please buy in advance to avoid disappointment as this is an intimate venue and spaces are limited.
